There are three main views in the Crop Plan feature: "All Plantings," "Plantings by Location," and "Greenhouse Plantings". You can toggle back and forth between these views by clicking the buttons at the top of the screen next to "View"
In the All Plantings view you can group your plantings by the following options under the Sort menu:
- Crop Name (Lettuce for example, with variety names listed)
Within the crop name view, we number the plants according to field sowing/planting date.
We know that within a given season, you’re likely to plant more than one succession of a crop, so Tend automatically numbers the plantings helps clarify the planting order.
That means if you plant Carrots twice in April and again in October, we’ll number each variety 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
- Plant Family (Brassicaceae for example, with crop names listed)
- Greenhouse Sow Date (all plantings grouped by GH sow date)
- Field Planting Date (all plantings grouped by Field Planting date)
- First Harvest Date (all plantings grouped by first harvest date)
Plantings by Location
This view gives you a birds-eye view of your farm and enables you to visually interact with your fields, so you can optimize the placement and timing of each planting in your Crop Plan. Crop color coding allows you to scan for different Crops and easily identify open spaces in your fields.
The Plantings by Location View offers three displays:
- The Fields and Beds View
- The All Unassigned Panel
- The Planting Details Panel
The Field and Beds View displays:
- which plantings are in which beds over time
- the planting amount compared to total bed length when you hover over the planting
The All Unassigned Panel is a list of all of your Plantings that are not assigned to a Location for the year selected.
Plantings will automatically appear in this panel when:
- You create new plantings and don’t assign them to a field.
- You unassign a planting from a field.
You can filter the plantings that appear in the All Unassigned Panel by searching for a crop or variety.
The Planting Details Panel appears when you click on a planting that is assigned to a Location.
This Panel enables you to continue refining production and piecing together your ideal plan by updating the planting’s key dates, editing the planting amount, or unassigning the planting from its Location.
Tend Tip: Use the year selector in the Plantings by Location View to review field plans from previous seasons to inform your crop rotations.

Greenhouse Plantings View in Crop Planner
Greenhouse Plantings lets you view only your greenhouse activities. If you specified “Greenhouse Sow” or “Transplant from Purchased” as your planting method, you’ll be able to view it in the Greenhouse plantings.
Within Greenhouse plantings you can sort by sowing date, greenhouse sow, transplant, and crop name.
Not seeing something in your Greenhouse Planting? Return to your crop planner and double-check that you’ve selected “Greenhouse Sow” or “Transplant from Purchased” in the planting method dropdown.
Another feature of the Greenhouse Plantings View is the total flats graph which you can click in the top-right to display.
To plan ahead for your growing season, we’ve created the flats across time graph. This displays which flats are in use based on your crop plan. By default, Tend displays the 5 most common flats to your crop plan. Click to select the flat type of interest and make sure you have enough on hand for your sowing.
