As you create your crop plan, Tend allows you to define what units you'd like to use when entering rates for estimated yields or sales.
By default Tend includes a standardized unit for all crops (pounds for vegetables, stems for flowers, etc.) When you select another unit such as bunches, cases, or heads, Tend will ask you to enter a conversion rate back to the default unit.
We ask for this conversion so that we can provide you with more accurate and unified reporting. For example if you measure harvests for Full-size Kale in both pounds and cases, a conversion unit for pounds per case will allow you to see the total amount of Full-size Kale that's been harvested in one report.
Unit conversion values are saved specific to each combination of Crop and Harvest Stage. For example, Baby leaf Kale and Full-size Kale will have separate conversions for their respective units.
As you're creating your plantings, if you don’t know the exact conversion rate just enter an estimate and you can update the conversion rate with a more accurate figure later on.
To view conversion rates, hover underneath a unit and click the ruler icon. To modify these conversion rates click the “Edit Conversion” rate at the bottom of the pop-up window.
When you edit a conversion rate, historical data will be updated to reflect the new rate. However, if you do not want to update historical data, just create a new unit for the updated conversion rate. For example, if your original conversion rate was 16 heads/case and you now have larger cases that hold 24 heads, you can create a new unit called “Large Case“ and enter a conversion rate of 24 heads/large case.
You can create a new unit by clicking the blue “+ Add unit” button at the bottom of the list.
