We will be retiring our website builder and newsletter tools starting October 30th. This change better positions us to focus on the core planning, production and sales needs of the diversified farm. If you have already been using these tools, they will stay online until March 1st, so you can migrate at your own pace.
We've already begun work on our updated sales tools and can't wait to share them with you this winter. Thanks for growing with us. If you still have questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
GENERAL (back to the top)
Will my data be lost?
The new sales tools will not carry forward historical data. Upon request, we can provide you an export of your data, such as a copy of your website, your newsletter list, your blog, or your historic orders.
What's in store for the next version?
Our new tools are a unique set of farm-focused sales tools that integrate with your crop plan. We plan to offer a suite of sales tools, starting with offer sheets.
- Easy set up for selling crops from your crop plan
- No fuss offer sheet emails
- Offer your farm raised eggs, meat, and more side-by-side to your fresh produce
- Sell online at yourfarm.tendfarm.com
- Automatically generated pack lists from your offer sheet orders
- Customers can submit an order and pay later
- Connect your farmers market sales to your crop plan and harvest lists
- Export orders to CSV to upload to accounting software
SERVICE CHANGES (back to the top)
How long can I keep using my Tend website?
If you already have a website powered by Tend, you can continue using and editing it until March of 2019. After October 30th there will be limited customer support.
If I migrate my marketing website to a different platform, can I still use Tend's new Sales tools?
Yes. You can direct your customers to your offer sheet hosted on *.tendfarm.com to order from you. Orders will generate an invoice that sends to your customer.
DATA CHANGES (back to the top)
What data will migrate to the new Sales tools?
We will migrate the following data upon request:
- Historical orders and invoices
What data will not migrate?
Because we are no longer hosting websites, we can't migrate the following data to our new sales platform. But to help you transition to a new website provider we can give you an export of it upon request:
- Blog posts
- Website photos and content
- Newsletter subscriber list
We recommend the following platforms for websites:
We recommend the following tools for newsletters:
Will this impact my Crop Plan, Grow Tools, or Tend account?
SUBSCRIPTION CHANGES (back to the top)
How will this affect my subscription?
Your subscription will not be changed.
Will there be changes to pricing?
We may offer new pricing plans at some point, at which time you can change or upgrade to a new plan.
I'm not using these website tools – will this affect me?
No. But you might be interested in trying out our updated sales tools when we set them live.
What are the website tools, I wasn't aware of these? How are they going to be different now?
We currently offer marketing tools (blogs, newsletters, customer lists) and sales tools (online orders, invoices, selling produce and CSA shares). See "What's in store for the next version?" to learn more about what we'll be offering.
Will my customers be notified about this change or do I have to do this?
The only change that may directly affect them is the URL to your website or offer sheet – it will be up to you to communicate that change.
NEXT STEPS QUESTIONS (back to the top)
What do I need to do now or in the future when this new feature launches?
You don't need to do anything now. If you want to maintain a full marketing website after we sunset Tend websites in early 2019, we suggest that you schedule some to transition your site to a different platform such as Squarespace, Wix, or Wordpress.
I just signed up as a Tend user and I'm currently working on setting up my website. If this feature is going away early in 2019, what would you recommend I do in the meantime if I'm going to lose my work?
You can use our current sales tools including website building and the newsletter until they go offline March 1st. Be aware that support for these features will be limited after we start the transition October 30th. Because we're not far from the transition period, we'd recommend building a website and managing your email marketing on a different platform.
