Printing in Tend
Tend creates a safe home in the Cloud for all of your farm’s data, but we know that sometimes it’s nice to have a good old fashioned paper copy of your plans and other farm information. Whether you prefer paper for your note-taking, organic certification, or because there isn’t sufficient WiFi or cell service in the fields to use Tend’s Mobile App, we want you to have your data in whatever form best supports your work!
What can I print?
We’re always working to introduce more printable items. At the moment, the following information can be printed directly from Tend:
- Entire Crop Plan
- Greenhouse Plan
- Field sowing Plan
- Transplanting Plan
Printing from the Crop Plan Feature
Once in your preferred Crop Plan view, click on the Print icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Then select which plan you’d like to print. You can print the Entire Crop Plan, the Greenhouse Plan, the Field Sowing Plan, or the Field Transplanting Plan.
Next, indicate the date range you want to print for your selected plan type. You can print plans for the current week, month, or year; or you can print out a plan for a custom date range.
Finally, click “Print.”
For the best results, we recommend you print your Crop Plan in the landscape layout.
Please note: Crop Plans are printed in a spreadsheet layout as in the example above. To print a different view of your Crop Plan, use one of the alternative options listed below.
Printing from the Tasks Feature
To print data from the Tasks Feature, make sure you are in either the List or Calendar Views.
In either of these views, you can print Task Lists by clicking on the Print icon in the top right hand corner of your screen.
You will then be prompted to select a time range for the Task Lists you would like to print. You can print a daily Task list, a list for the week or month, or a list for a custom time range.
Next, indicate whether you would like to print a list of all your Tasks for the time range or if you would like to print lists for specific Task types. Once you’ve made your selection, click “Continue.”
The final step is to let Tend know whether you would like to print a list of all your indicated Tasks, of incomplete Tasks, or of completed Tasks across the time range. Choose the option that meets your needs, and click Print.
Your Tasks will be printed in a spreadsheet format, so we recommend printing your lists in the landscape layout for best results.
Printing Harvest and Planting Task Lists
Tend bundles Planting Tasks scheduled for the same day into Planting Task Lists. In addition to following the process described above, you can print both these Planting Task Lists and your Harvest Lists in Tend by clicking directly on the list in the Calendar or List View of the Task Feature.
After you click on your desired list, select the Print icon in the top right hand corner of the Task Details screen to print out all the information you need for your planting or harvest day.
What is not printable from Tend?
The following information cannot currently be printed directly from Tend:
Some of this information can be printed by exporting the data to CSV or by using some simple tips and tricks. Keep reading for details!
What can I do if the data I need is not currently printable in Tend?
If the information you want to print cannot currently be printed directly from Tend, you have a few options.
Download the data to CSV
You can export your data from Tend into a CSV file by clicking on your username in the top right hand corner of your screen and selecting the “Export data to CSV” option.
When your data is exported to CSV, it will be divided into separate documents for your Crop Plan, Expenses, Greenhouse Plan, Harvests, Locations, Notes, Seed List, and Tasks. Simply open the file containing the data you need, and print the spreadsheet.
Tend Tip: Many Tend users track information for their organic certification processes in the Records Feature. Records will not be separated into their own document when your data is exported to CSV, but you can still print your Records by opening the CSV files for the Features you use to track your certification-related activities and applying filters for the relevant information.
For example, if you track fertility and amendment, pest control, or other activities by creating Tasks for those activities, you can print out a copy of those Records by opening the Tasks CSV document and applying a filter in the spreadsheet to bring up just the Task Types you need for your documentation. If you track certification information by making Notes in Tend, then you could use the same technique in the Notes CSV file.
Print a screenshot of your information
We’re always working to introduce more printable items. If the information you need is not currently printable from Tend (eg. the satellite farm map in the Locations Feature or your field maps from the Locations View of the Crop Plan), then one short-term option is to take a screenshot (or use command Ctrl + P) of the information you want to print.
To get the best possible perspective for your printed map, we recommend collapsing the Navigation Panel on the left hand side of the screen and using zoom buttons where available.

Taking a screenshot can also help you print information that is not currently printable in your preferred format (eg. Calendar View of the Tasks Feature or the Timegraph display of your planting successions).

Tend Tip: Applying filters in Tend’s Features can help you curate the information on your screen to just what you need for your screenshot. The video below shows an example of filtering Records for input and amendment activities.
