Where to Start
Tend streamlines the Crop Planning process to help you execute your plan efficiently and glean insights for future improvement. Long-term, you’ll get the most from Tend by combining in-depth planning in the Web App with on-the-go plan referencing, updating, and note-taking in the Mobile App.
Tend Tip: You must have an internet connection or cellular data to access the Mobile App. If you don’t have service in your fields, you can use Tend’s printable lists to put your plan into action, then add any notes or updates to the Web App when you’re back in the office.
We’ll discuss best practices for integrating the Web and Mobile Apps later. For now, the Web App is your launching point for getting started with Tend. As you work, click on the info icons to take advantage of additional details and guidance.

Select the Crops and varieties you grow in My Crops
The very first step to managing your farm in Tend is to get set up in My Crops. Here, you'll use Tend’s crop database to create and manage a list of the specific crops and varieties you grow on your farm.
This curated list will appear wherever you have the option to select from a list of crops or varieties. This helps keep your Crop Planning and season management in Tend quick and efficient. If you want to add or remove crops and varieties from your list, you can always return to My Crops to refine your list by activating or deactivating crops.
Learn more about the My Crops feature here.
Finish Setting Up Your Account
Now that your crops have been added, take a minute to review your Farm Settings.
Here you can add users with different roles to your Tend account, so your team will always be on the same page. We’ll talk more about crew management with Tend in the Tasks and Mobile App chapters of the Guide.
Customize your Farm Settings and orient Tend to your production realities by:
- Confirming your timezone, so dates will be synced in the Web and Mobile Apps.
- Customizing the first and final frost dates to accurately reflect your production window.
- Specifying when in the year you farm, so your plan corresponds with your local season.
