Tend’s Expenses Feature enables you to quickly capture the data you need to make informed decisions for efficiency and profitability on the farm.
The Expenses Feature works together with the Tasks Feature to help you track labor costs. When a Task that has been assigned to a crew member with a specified labor rate is completed and the labor hours are logged, a Labor Expense is automatically created in Tend, so you can see how work hours are spent on the farm and which activities and crops are costing you the most.
To track other business expenditures in Tend, simply add Expenses as needed. You can view, edit, and add Expenses as part of your office routine in the Web App, or manage Expenses on the go with the Mobile App. In the Mobile App, you can upload photos of important receipts right away — before they get lost in the shuffle of your workday.
Incorporate details into your cost-tracking by assigning Expenses to crops and locations, specifying Expense categories, uploading receipts, and adding descriptions of Expenses as you add them, so you’ll have a comprehensive picture of how money is spent in your business.
For deeper insights into production costs, apply filters in the Expense Feature to view Expenses by category, crop, location and date. This is a great way to access precisely the information you need for organic certification or end of season bookkeeping, precisely when you need it.
Tend empowers business management season after season by turning Expenses into Records. These Records flow into Reports that crunch the numbers of your farm data to provide insights for your decision making. View your Expense by Category, Expense by Crop, and Expense by Time Reports to take a magnifying glass to your production costs. We’ll discuss Records and Reports in greater detail later in the Guide.
Tend Tip: Tend displays your Expenses for the season on the header of your Crop Plan, so you can monitor production costs as you create and implement your plan.
